Having been involved with Welsh international hockey from schoolboy days in 1967 and for most of the years since, I now have the time to commit to generating an ‘old boys’ supporters group. The men’s national team is supported at tournaments currently by a few of the blazer brigade and a smattering of parents, girlfriends, partners and wives. It remains an ambition to be part of a crowd that can out support the Irish! Dave Cooper is updating the website and if I get your support, we can have a regular ‘Where are they now!’ section. A couple of epic team photos from the early 1970’s are being committed to digital format and will embarrass those particularly with big hair.

There will be no over heads or costs, so there is no charge to individuals. It will simply be a way of letting former players know what is going on, who is involved, where the team is playing and how they are getting on. This can only be done via email.

Those who may be prepared to help financially could do so in the following ways:-
£50 pays for squad lunch at a training camp.
£250 pays for squad dinner at a training camp or a squad members’ financial commitment for 2007.
£1,000 pays for hotel costs for the squad for one day at a preparation tournament.

It is sad in these days of highly paid professional sport that our own athletes not only dedicate themselves to technical and athletic excellence but also have to pay for the privilege.
