Welsh Hockey Union secures £12500 sponsorship deal

 Welsh Hockey Union Officials are jumping for joy thanks to a Scottish based international hockey equipment specialist and the Sports Council for Wales.

 The Welsh Hockey Union has secured its biggest ever four year sponsorship deal with International Hockey Equipment specialists, Gilmour Sports Limited, which has been matched in its first year by the Sports Council for Wales’s Sportsmatch Cymru scheme, resulting in a cash and in kind equipment influx worth over £25000 in year one.

 The deal provides the Welsh Hockey Union with Mazon branded kit and clothing for its U18, U21 and Senior International teams, as well as clothing for development and central staff, and cash to launch its new U13 talent ID and development programme.

 Mike Bull, Chief Executive of the Welsh Hockey Union, said: “We are delighted to have secured a partnership with Gilmour Sports and Sportsmatch that will enable the Union to build on the significant successes achieved in the last couple of years. Hockey in Wales is a growing sport both in terms of participation and performance and this deal will ensure that the younger children in our performance programme will have increased access to high quality coaching”.

 Sportsmatch Cymru is an Assembly-funded, £ for £ business incentive scheme, aimed at commercial sponsorship into grass roots sport.
