Nations Trophy 2007
Wales v Ukrain
Monday 10th September 2007
Two goals not enough
for Wales. |
In
a must win match Wales started as they did yesterday in dominant form.
However after just 4 minutes the Ukraines powered a ball into the
D and it was deflected high into the Welsh net. The Welsh started
to
look hesitant and made some obvious errors in midefieldand after 18
minutes a crossed ball found an unmarked Ukraine forward. As the Welsh
keeper George Harris shot
out from his goal to smother the shot it was slipped across the D
and the Welsh were now two down. |
Wales
continued to press and with just three minutes of the half remaining
Ollie keeper slammed a Ukraine lifted ball into the net.
Having been reduced to ten men the Ukraines were now defending hard
and the Welsh got the first of three short corners. Again Ollie Cooper
made no mistake firing it low and hard and they were level.
|
Despite a real push Wales could not find the final goal. A corner
shout in the last minute fell on deaf ears and the game ended 2 –
2. Wales now need a win on Wednesday over Scotland who have two wins
already.
