EuroHockey
Nations Trophy 2007
Wales v Scotland
Wednesday 12th September 2007
Wales have it all to
do. |
Wales
continue to struggle to capitalise on their mid-field dominance. In
the first twenty minutes Wales dominated with three clear chances
to take the lead. However the accuracy of their shooting let them
down with just one shot rebounding of the post. After twenty five
minutes the Scots got their first short corner and suitably converted
it. Five minute later after a similar situation they doubled their
lead. |
Two
nil down at half time became three nil from a another short corner
in the second half with the game now getting extremely physical. With
continuous breaking down of play there were a total of five yellow
cards and with fifteen minutes remaining the Welsh got their first
short corner. Ollie Coopers flick was parried by the keeper however
three minutes later he was not so lucky and the Welsh got a goal back.
Wales should have got another short corner moments later but were
further penalised by the umpires. |
Two
minutes later Ollie Cooper was stick tackled twice by Scottish players
as he entering the twenty
five but maintained possession. With a one on one with the keeper
they whistled for a Welsh free hit. Frustration over decisions boiled
over and Ollie was yellow carded for hitting the ball away. A harsh
decision after two clear foul but an easy one for an umpire to make.
|
3 – 1 to the Scots was the final result and the Welsh boys have
it all to do if they are not to be relegated to the C division.
